Stata is a general-purpose statistical software package. Most of its users work in research, especially in the fields of economics, sociology, political science, biomedicine and epidemiology. Stata’s capabilities include data management, statistical analysis, graphics, simulations, regression, and custom programming. [ref.]
There are different packages of Stata [ref]
|Package||Max. no. of variables||Max. no. of right-hand variables||Max. no. of observations||64-bit version available?||Fastest: designed for parallel processing?||Platforms|
|Stata/MP||32,767||10,998||20 billion*||Yes||Yes||Windows, Mac, or Unix|

All of the above packages require licensing fees. However, you can send an email to STATA requesting for license key for STATA evaluation. STATA will send you with a license key along with installation instruction for 30 days for STATA/MP (2 core). Beyond that you will have to pay to continue. The good thing is , they do not ask for any credit card information for this evaluation license key.
Thanks to STATA !
